According to YG Entertainment on the 4th, Blackpink's 'Boombayah' music video exceeded 1.6 billion views on YouTube at 6:49 am on the same day. This is the achievement after about 6 years and 11 months since it was released on YouTube.
With this, the music video for "Boombayah" has become the third 1.6 billion-view video in Blackpink's career. Previously, 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' (2 billion views) and 'Kill This Love' (1.8 billion views) achieved the same number of views.
'Boombayah' is one of the double title tracks of BLACKPINK's debut single album 'SQUARE ONE' released in August 2016. It is an impressive song with an addictive chorus and an exciting drum beat, which has captivated global music fans and boasts undiminished popularity.
BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel continues to grow steadily. The cumulative number of views of these videos reached 31.9 billion, and the number of subscribers to the official YouTube channel exceeded 89.6 million, ranking first among male and female artists worldwide.
In particular, the music video for 'DDU-DU DDU-DU', which holds the title of the first, best, and most K-pop group music video, is expected to continue its brilliant march as it is about to break through 2.1 billion views.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is in the midst of the K-pop girl group's largest world tour, 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK]', which mobilizes about 1.5 million people.
