Baro Entertainment, the agency of actors Gong Seung-yeon and Lee Yu-mi, is producing a Korean version of the Japanese movie '100 Yen Love'.
According to Baro Entertainment on the 17th, they are working with the film company Miji to promote a Korean remake of the movie '100 Yen's Love', which is based on the Japanese film '100 Yen's Love' of the same name.
The original Japanese movie '100 Yen Love' is a moving work that depicts Ichiko, a 32-year-old with no dreams, no job, and no money, preparing for just one boxing match to start over in her life where everything has gone wrong.
It was directed by Japanese actor Masaharu Take and starred Sakura Ando, Hirofumi Irai, and Miyoko Inigawa. At the time of its release, it won five awards at the 16th Japan Academy Awards, including Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor. It then received the Best Actress Award at the 88th Kinema Junpo, Best Screenplay Award at the 37th Yokohama Film Festival, and Best Asian Film Award at the 19th Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival.
The newly remade '100 Yen Love' will be helmed by director Kim In-seon, who directed the film 'Adult Guide', which won the NETPAC Award at the 19th Jeonju International Film Festival. Accordingly, the Korean version of '100 Yen's Love' is expected to convey the emotion and nostalgia of the original while adding more attractions with more interesting storytelling and Koreanized details.
