Court Rules Against NewJeans' Independent Activities Amid Contract Dispute with ADOR
A South Korean court has ruled that the girl group NewJeans, currently embroiled in a contract dispute with ADOR, a label under HYBE, must not engage in independent activities.

On the 21st, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Division 50, led by Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon, accepted ADOR's injunction request against the five members of NewJeans, prohibiting them from signing advertising contracts and maintaining the agency's status.

Previously, in November of last year, NewJeans held an emergency press conference to announce their termination of the exclusive contract with ADOR, maintaining their stance that the contract had been nullified. They were scheduled to appear at international events, including Hong Kong's ComplexCon, but doing so would now be considered a violation.

ADOR asserts that the exclusive contract with NewJeans remains valid until July 31, 2029. On December 3rd of last year, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the contract and, on January 6th, requested an injunction to prohibit the signing of advertising contracts and preserve the agency's status. Additionally, ADOR expanded the injunction request to include a ban on NewJeans' music activities, such as songwriting, composing, and singing, as well as other entertainment industry activities.
