Chuu, often referred to as the 'human vitamin', has revealed the story behind her latest release, a melancholic rain-themed song, diverging from her usual cheerful image.
On the morning of the 21st, Chuu hosted a media listening session titled 'Private Listening Room' to celebrate the release of her third mini-album, 'Only Cry in the Rain'.
Chuu explained, "This album is centered around 'emotions'. I often think deeply about emotions and I love the word itself." She added, "I've incorporated various emotions into this album. It's about the record of emotions and the wavering of memories."
Discussing her return with the calm and emotional track 'Only Cry in the Rain', Chuu noted, "This song might appear dark and calm, contrasting with the image the public is familiar with." She expressed her belief that "rain and tears don't always have to be associated with sadness or darkness."
Chuu further elaborated, "Rain doesn't necessarily mean 'it's raining, so I'm sad and my emotions are down'. It can also mean 'after the rain, the sky will be clearer, and I can do what I want'." She continued, "At first listen, the album might seem to convey sadness and calmness, but as you listen more, you'll feel the strength to overcome and the warmth of someone comforting you. It's an image I want to carry along with the bright sunshine I'm known for."
Regarding the title track 'Only Cry in the Rain', Chuu shared, "Everyone has times when they hide their emotions. It's not easy to just let go of feelings like sadness or anger. This song talks about how it's okay to bring out those emotions when you have a moment to focus on yourself."
Chuu also explained why she chose 'rain' as a motif to express the flow of emotions like longing, sadness, and relief in this album. She said, "Rain comes unexpectedly, much like emotions, which is why I think they are very similar."
She added, "Emotions, like the weather, are beyond my control. You never know when you'll feel joy, anger, sorrow, or happiness. Emotions that suddenly appear and linger, or disappear, are all similar to rain." She concluded, "I carry many emotions like the ever-changing weather, but I'm glad to say they are all 'my precious emotions'."
Regarding her goals for this year, Chuu expressed, "I want to release more music and perform in more places. That's my goal for this year. I want to communicate freely with my fans on and off stage." She added, "In the past, I focused on technical skills, but now I enjoy the process and want to share that with my fans."
Chuu is making a comeback with her third mini-album 'Only Cry in the Rain', 10 months after her second mini-album 'Strawberry Rush'. The album includes five tracks: the title track 'Only Cry in the Rain', 'Back in Town', 'Kiss a Kitty', 'Je t’aime', and 'No More'. The title track conveys the message that 'it's okay to be honest with your emotions on a rainy day', offering warmth and courage to the youth.
Meanwhile, Chuu's third mini-album 'Only Cry in the Rain' is set to be released on various online music platforms at 6 PM on the 21st.
