Lee Jong-suk Reflects on His Return After Three Years and Upcoming Projects

Lee Jong-suk, who is publicly dating singer and actress IU, shared his thoughts on returning to the screen after three years.

The magazine 'Singles' released a pictorial featuring actor Lee Jong-suk. He expressed, “In 'Seocho-dong,' I wore glasses for the first time in a role. Once I decided on them, I had to wear them throughout the entire show, so I was very particular about choosing the right pair. I recently saw a drama where the main character wore Lindberg glasses, which caught my eye. I was pleased to wear them for this photoshoot.”

Returning to the screen after 'Big Mouth' with his new project 'Seocho-dong,' where he plays another lawyer role, Lee Jong-suk explained, “'Big Mouth' wasn't focused on the lawyer's activities. In this new project, I fully portray the profession, but there aren't many intense courtroom scenes. It's more of a slice-of-life drama focusing on human connections rather than dramatic legal battles. The character An Ju-hyung doesn't choose his profession for grand reasons, which is a unique aspect.”

When asked about what he gained from this project, he highlighted his co-stars, saying, “Including myself, Moon Ga-young, Kang Yoo-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Lim Sung-jae are the main cast. More than discovering something new within myself, I gained these four actors. It's a drama where the characters shine on their own rather than relying on the background of their roles. It's fun just having the five of us sitting and eating together. The set naturally brought us closer, allowing us to influence each other.”

With the Year of the Snake, Lee Jong-suk is optimistic, saying, “This year is the Year of the Snake, and since I was born in the Year of the Snake, I have this vague feeling that things will go well. (laughs) I wanted to rest more, but knowing there are people waiting for me, I decided to work hard from last year into this year. I planned to take on projects that are more challenging than what I've done before. Although I haven't shown them yet, these decisions are meaningful to me.”

As he prepares for the filming of 'The Remarried Empress,' he shared, “The original work is very popular, so bringing it to life is a challenge and adventure for the director, actors, and staff. There’s a lot to prepare, but that makes it more exciting. I’ll be referencing the original work diligently and following the director’s guidance.”
