NCT WISH has found themselves at the center of a controversy following their appearance on the live radio program 'Cultwo Show'.
On October 23, criticism of NCT WISH surged across online platforms like 'X' (formerly Twitter) and YouTube. The group appeared on SBS PowerFM's 'Cultwo Show' alongside singer Chuu.
The controversy arose during a segment where they participated in the 'Kkongnyangyi Challenge' with Chuu. Chuu demonstrated the challenge with enthusiasm, but except for member Riku, the other NCT WISH members remained motionless.
Special DJ Hanhae remarked, "WISH just froze. Riku tried hard but it fell apart," and added, "Thank you, Riku, for working hard despite the challenges."
DJ Kim Tae-kyun also noted the members' brighter expressions when discussing baseball, saying, "Talking about baseball seems to bring some life to them. Their eyes light up."
The public responded with sharp criticism. One viewer commented on a YouTube video, "Guys, even the senior artist next to you is doing their best. What are you doing? Being shy and nervous is only an excuse in private. You're working now, aren't you? Get it together." Another viewer remarked, "It's been months since their debut, and it's impressive how consistently they've been like this. Are they planning to stay this way forever?"
Even NCT WISH's fandom expressed disappointment. A fan on platform X stated, "Just don't send them to variety shows. It's not about being unable to speak; it's about social skills and responsibility." Another fan pleaded, "We say these things because we still care. Please understand and improve. We don't want to stop being fans, which is why we're collectively criticizing."
Meanwhile, NCT WISH released their second mini-album 'poppop' on October 14 and have been actively promoting it on various music shows, variety programs, and radio shows.
