Singer and actress Jung Eun-ji opened up about her preparation process for her latest role.
On the afternoon of the 29th, a press conference for the new KBS 2TV Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Pump Up The Healthy Love' was held at The Saint in Sindorim, Guro-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by actors Lee Jun-young, Jung Eun-ji, Lee Mi-do, Lee Seung-woo, Park Sung-yeon, Lee Ji-hye, Hong Yoon-hwa, and director Park Joon-soo.
KBS 2TV's new drama 'Pump Up The Healthy Love' is a comedic romance that follows the story of Do Hyun-jung (played by Lee Jun-young), a passionate fitness enthusiast who helps gym members with various concerns transform their lives.
Jung Eun-ji takes on the role of Imi-ran, a gym newbie who is earnest about both eating and love. It was previously reported that Jung Eun-ji gained 9kg for the role. She shared, "I started exercising because of a herniated disc. While filming, I grew to love exercising more, and thanks to the disc and exercise, I was able to take on the character of Imi-ran."
Jung Eun-ji continued, "After filming ended, I valued exercise even more. Through weight fluctuation, I realized, 'I can control my body as I wish.' I often wondered if I could manage this while continuing activities with Apink, but with a lot of help from those around me, I was able to manage the weight changes."
When asked about any physical changes from the role, Jung Eun-ji said, "I think I developed a desire to maintain a better posture. People might think gaining weight is easier, but since I had to lose weight during filming, I couldn't just eat anything. If it was just about gaining weight, it might have been easier, but having to both gain and lose weight was challenging."
'Pump Up The Healthy Love' premieres on Wednesday, the 30th, at 9:50 PM.
