“A fierce and kind actor” Lee Sun-kyun, memorialized on the second day of his sad news… Strict observance of today’s entrance ceremony

While the funeral of Lee Seon-kyun, who passed away on the 27th, was set up in Room 1 of the funeral hall at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, mourners from the film industry continued to flock until late at night. His wife, Jeon Hye-jin, and the deceased's two older brothers and sister were named as mourners. The mourners continued until the morning of the 28th, the second day of the sad news. The entrance ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on this day.
The first person to visit the funeral was actor Choi Deok-moon, who had a close relationship with Lee Sun-kyun during his lifetime. Director Lee Won-seok, who worked with the movie 'Killing Romance', visited the funeral. Jang Won-seok, CEO of BA Entertainment, which produced the 'Crime City' series, also paid condolences with his wife, actress Son Eun-seo. Sol Kyeong-gu, Yoo Jae-myung, Jo Jung-seok, Cho Jin-woong and others attended the funeral. Among them, Cho Jin-woong and Jo Jung-seok are said to have been very sad and shed tears.
In addition, actors Jung Woo-sung, Ha Jung-woo, Lee Jung-jae, Jeon Do-yeon, Ryu Jun-yeol, Im Si-wan, Kim Seong-cheol, Bae Seong-woo, and Heo Gwang-han visited the funeral late at night to mourn the deceased. Film directors who had a relationship with the deceased during his lifetime, including Lee Chang-dong, Jeong Ji-young, Park Chan-wook, Lee Won-seok, Byun Seong-hyun, and Byun Young-ju, also paid condolences.


The agency, Hodu & U Entertainment, said, "We respectfully ask that you refrain from spreading false facts based on guesses or guesses and malicious reports based on them so that the deceased's final journey will not be unfair."

Meanwhile, Lee Seon-kyun, who debuted in 1999, lived in obscurity for quite a while before making his presence known through dramas such as 'White Tower' and 'Coffee Prince's 1st Store' in 2007. Afterwards, he appeared in the dramas 'Pasta' (2010) and 'Golden Time' (2012), which were box office successes, and expanded his scope into the film industry, proving his acting spectrum. He received applause for his unique and realistic acting in the movies ‘Hwacha’ (2012), ‘All About My Wife’ (2012), and ‘Going to the End’ (2014).
Lee Sun-kyun was evaluated as having brought comfort to many people through the drama 'My Mister', which aired in 2018. The film 'Parasite' (directed by Bong Joon-ho), released the following year, became a world star by winning the top prize at the Cannes International Film Festival and the American Academy Awards. For this work, Lee Sun-kyun also received the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Award for Ensemble Award in the film category.
At the Cannes Film Festival last May, as many as two leading films were invited simultaneously, including 'Sleep' (director Yoo Jae-seon) and 'Escape: Project Silence' (director Kim Tae-gon). At the time, Lee Sun-kyun was the star of the last Cannes Film Festival, attending the festival with his wife Jeon Hye-jin and two sons.
