The Baeksang Arts Awards have expanded their judging criteria to include content from cable, OTT, and web platforms, reflecting current content consumption trends. This year, the TV category has been renamed to the Broadcasting category to accommodate these changes.

The competition for Best Drama is fierce, with nominees including tvN's 'Run with the Sun,' JTBC's 'The Tale of Mrs. Ok,' MBC's 'Intimate Betrayer,' Netflix's 'Trauma Center,' and Netflix's 'You Have Done Well.' The Best Variety Show nominees feature trendy content like tvN's 'Iron Girl Squad,' Mnet's 'Stage Fighter,' Choo Sung-hoon's 'The Rest of My Life,' Ddeunddeun's 'Wind Direction High School,' and Netflix's 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War.'

The Best Documentary category includes EBS's 'DocuPrime: Where is My Last Home?', Wave's 'All Family,' Wonju MBC's 'Become the Wind, With You Again,' SBS's 'Special: Hakjeon and Kim Min-ki,' and TVING's 'Shaman: Ghost Story.'

Revived in 2019, the theater category has become a highlight of the Baeksang Arts Awards. This year, all five nominees for the Baeksang Theater Award are productions: 'Gumi-style,' 'The Jew of Malta,' 'The Eldest Daughters,' 'Jincheon Recommends Jincheon Recommended Play Jincheon Temple Recommends,' and 'Sound of the Flute.' Best Actor nominees are Kwak Ji-sook ('The Jew of Malta'), Lee Jin-kyung ('Women on Earth'), Jung Sae-byeol ('Sound of the Flute'), Jo Young-kyu ('Jincheon Recommends Jincheon Recommended Play Jincheon Temple Recommends'), and Choi Hee-jin ('All').

The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci, the only comprehensive arts awards in Korea covering television, film, and theater, will be held on May 5 at 8 PM at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul. Italian luxury brand Gucci is partnering for the third consecutive year, and the event will be broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4.
