Bae Doo-na “I am confident in Kim Si-eun’s acting as ‘Next Sohee’”
Interview with Bae Doo-na as Oh Yu-jin in the movie ‘Next Sohee’

On the morning of the 2nd, Bae Doo-na told various stories about the upcoming movie 'Next Sohee' (directed by Jeong Ju-ri) at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Next Sohee' is an intense story about an incident that Sohee (played by Si-eun Kim), a confident 18-year-old high school student, experiences while going on field training, and Eugene (played by Doo-na Bae), a detective who investigates it, encounters it in the same space but at a different time. Last year, it was the first Korean film to be selected as the closing film of the Critics Week at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival.
In the play, Bae Doo-na plays the role of Oh Yu-jin, a detective who returns to work after a long absence. Oh Yu-jin is a character who retraces So-hee's footsteps.
On this day, Bae Doo-na confessed that she was "burdened and worried" about the fact that Daum Sohee was divided into Part 1 and Part 2. He said, "First of all, the audience knows everything. I chased after Sohee and saw her last days, and the story I'm telling digs deeper. It's not a good story, but it's about digging into why she became like that, so I thought, 'Can I do a good job?'" He said.

Bae Doo-na said, "So I wanted to focus on that part through raw acting, interacting with the audience as I felt, without overdoing it or holding back too much. It was burdensome acting-wise, but I think it was novel and good. Just like I did before, with flashbacks. “I think it was much better than doing it or having Eugene come out at the beginning. It’s like a story that never ends,” he said.
Bae Doo-na did not spare praise for her co-star Kim Si-eun. He said, "Even though I didn't monitor mine, I did monitor Si-eun's. I was surprised. I thought that my friends who were filming a movie for the first time were also good at acting. It was nice to be free and confident in front of the camera. There is an advantage to the fact that rookies are seen in that role, but He expressed his affection, saying, "Sieun is pure and I can see her spirit of trying to fight hard. She's really good."
Also, "After seeing that friend act, I was convinced that this movie would be really good. I told the director to edit it quickly and submit it to various companies. I feel good and amazed (about the favorable reviews overseas). Si-eun at the scene. “After seeing all of Lee’s acting, I vaguely thought that this movie would be good, but since I received good reviews, I was excited and nervous, thinking, ‘The director did a great job making it.’”
Bae Doo-na said, "I was very happy to be praised even though I am not my child but the director's child. In fact, to be honest, I am the most nervous right before the release in Korea. I was really nervous before the press screening. I broke into a cold sweat with director Jeong Ju-ri. What kind of reviews did I get in Korea? "I wonder if it will be received. I'm happy to go to foreign film festivals and get good reviews, but I'm waiting for the judgment. Personally, I'm satisfied and it's a film I'm proud of."
Meanwhile, ‘Next Sohee’ will be released on the 8th.
