Kim Seong-gyu "Personality changed from I to E... Sometimes I'm a 'two-much talker'"
On the 28th, a press conference was held at a cafe in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul to commemorate the release of Kim Seong-gyu's 5th mini album '2023 S/S Collection'.
'2023 SS Collection' is a new album released by Kim Sung-kyu in about 7 months since the special single 'Dear my fan' to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his solo debut released in November last year.
The title song 'Small Talk' is a song that stands out with an addictive rhythm and melody that catches your ears, and a cheerful band sound. It contains Kim Seong-gyu's musical message trying to ice-break to the world and sensuous lyrics that can be interpreted in various ways depending on the listener's situation.
Kim Seong-gyu said, "I've been working on an album since last year," and "I had a title that I thought of, but I wanted to try a song that was fun and suitable for summer. When I release a lot of albums, I worry every time, 'What new thing should I try?'. Over the past 13 years, many I've done a lot of things, so I prepared while thinking about what to try this time. It's a 'small attempt'."
Regarding this album, Kim Seong-gyu said, “The album title contains the meaning of Sung-gyu’s summer music.” “I think I always did serious and sad music when I was solo. ) I built it,” he explained.
When asked to explain 'Small Talk' in one word, Sungkyu Kim introduced it as an "exciting song." Also, "It's an upbeat song. The lyrics 'I need a conversation with you' can be the feelings someone feels when starting a relationship or loneliness in a crowd. Kakao Talk a lot, but conversations are good Isn't it? It contains the heart that I hate being alone." He continued, "I'm good at talking, but when I saw it, there were a lot of people who didn't."
Regarding his usual personality, Kim Seong-gyu said, "I don't talk much and I'm shy." Then, he explained, "I lived as I for 3 years and changed to E last year. It was when I was filming a variety show at the time, but when I came back after filming and tried it again, it was like that. Life at that time had to talk a lot in front of people. So it seems to have changed." . Then, "I say I've changed, but the fans say I'm an ISTJ. I don't know why (I don't know why they decide my MBTI)", bringing laughter. When asked if he was a small talker or a big talker, he said, “It depends on the time and situation. Sometimes, I'm a two-much talker,” and laughed.
Regarding the 'Small Talk' music video, he showed confidence in his acting ability in the music video, saying, "It's my acting ability." Then, he pointed out the point to watch, saying, “I worked hard, so please look at my facial expressions.”
In addition, 'Intro: Time Lapse', 'It Will Be', 'Jump', 'Go Again', 'Sometimes', and A variety of songs are included, including the instrumental (accompaniment) track of the title song 'Small Talk'.
Following his previous works, Kim Sungkyu directly participated in writing the lyrics for the b-side song 'Jump'. 'Jump' is a song written by Kim Sung-kyu while thinking about Infinite and Inspirit (the official fan club name), and contains his sincere heart as Infinite's leader.
'2023 SS Collection' will be released on the 28th at 6pm through each music site.
