'Casino' Kim Joo-ryeong "My dream of shooting on location overseas has come true"
'Casino' Kim Joo-ryeong "My dream of shooting on location overseas has come true"
Kim Joo-ryeong revealed that this was his first overseas location with 'Casino'.

Recently, I met actor Kim Joo-ryeong, who appeared in Disney Plus+'s 'Casino', at a cafe in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. Jin Young-hee, played by Kim Joo-ryeong, is the owner of a local Korean restaurant in the Philippines and is involved in a Korean murder case.

In the play, Jinyoung-hee Jinyoung tells construction company director Choi Chil-gu (played by Song Young-gyu) that she has a grudge against Cha Moo-sik, and that her mafia boyfriend is being asked to carry out a contract killing. Afterwards, money comes into the bank account and Chairman Min is actually murdered.

This series was filmed on location in the Philippines. Kim Joo-ryeong said, "The other actors stayed in the Philippines for quite a long time. I stayed for about two weeks. I am sorry and grateful that they were considerate of me and allowed me to do my part. I stayed with the local actors and became close friends, and thanks to that, I was able to do the work well. “There was more time to talk about it. There were a lot of positive factors,” he said. He continued, "This is my first time working on an overseas location. It was my dream. I said I wanted to go film for work, and 'Casino' made my dream come true. It was great. I will work hard to have more opportunities in the future. I think there will be more opportunities as the coronavirus eases." He expressed his joy.

On set, director Kang Yun-seong is said to have created a flexible atmosphere so that lines could be changed and actors could take the lead in their acting. Kim Joo-ryeong said, "Director Kang Yun-seong has that style. He said he had that style from the beginning. There were parts that were created through encounters on set and some new lines. The director was open-minded. I didn't know that things would change on set until the end."

Kim Joo-ryeong also told an anecdote about how flexible he was at the filming site. He said, "The first scene I filmed was a Korean community meeting scene. I think it was because of my schedule, but I took a flight to the Philippines at dawn for 6 hours. When I arrived, I just put down my luggage and went to the scene. In the play, my hair is in a full wig, and I wore a full wig. After putting on makeup, I went straight into filming and filmed the Korean response. I saw it during the general reading, but it was the first time I met Oh Dal-su and (Son) Seok-gu in that filming scene on set. But they didn't do it according to the script. I was embarrassed at first. Even the lines that weren't there were naturally their own. There was an exchange. I was confused and couldn't get used to it for a moment. However, I recognized the director's style right away and quickly got used to it, so it was fun while filming. Don't I have to listen more closely to the other actor's story to be able to react? Senior Oh Dal-su "'s free-spirited acting was enough to make me want to learn. He led the situation in a fun way without deviating from the larger framework. At the same time, 'a deep smile' came out. The director liked the 'raw feeling' of the scene," he said.

Regarding the English lines, Kim Joo-ryeong said, "I was nervous because it was my first time saying English lines in a series. Even though it was a short line, I was nervous."

'Casino' is the story of Cha Moo-sik (played by Choi Min-sik), a casino legend, who faces a crisis and begins to make the last bet of his life against the persistent pursuit of Korean Desk Oh Seung-hoon (played by Son Seok-gu). The last episode of Season 2 was released on the 22nd.
