Actress Cha Joo-young Opens Up About Weight Gain for 'The Glory' and Health Challenges Post 'Wonkyung'

On the October 16th episode of TV CHOSUN's 'Baekban Journey with Heo Young-man', Cha Joo-young, known for her roles in the dramas 'The Glory' and 'Wonkyung', traveled to Hampyeong.

Heo Young-man asked if the challenges of filming meant higher pay, to which Cha humorously replied, "I plan to ask for more next time."
While enjoying the porridge, Cha admitted her love for carbohydrates, especially rice cakes, earning her the nickname 'Tteoksooni'. She also shared behind-the-scenes stories from 'The Glory', where her chilling portrayal of a villain gained her attention. "Thanks to that role, I now have more options for future projects," she said.
For her glamorous character in 'The Glory', Cha gained weight, stating, "I gained a lot of weight but haven't fully returned to my previous weight." She explained that she rapidly gained 5-6 kg and maintained it throughout the filming period.
Heo asked if she was satisfied now, noting that satisfaction often comes with financial success. Cha laughed, saying, "I think I need to work a bit harder."
Cha and Heo also visited a 41-year-old Chinese restaurant. Reminiscing about her study abroad days, Cha recalled, "Cooking with black bean paste and eating jajangmyeon was like a party. We would all gather and enjoy it together."
