K-Drama Adaptation of 'The Remarried Empress' Announced with Star-Studded Cast
The highly anticipated K-drama adaptation of the popular Naver webtoon 'The Remarried Empress' has been officially announced, with a star-studded cast including Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Se-young.

'"The Remarried Empress' is a romance fantasy that follows the story of Empress Navier of the Eastern Empire, who is informed of her divorce by Emperor Sovieshu. In response, she demands a remarriage with Prince Heinley of the Western Kingdom. The plot thickens as Rashta, a former runaway slave, becomes Sovieshu's concubine, escalating the conflict. Originally serialized as a web novel in 2018, it gained immense popularity and was translated into 10 languages by 2019, amassing a global readership. As of December 2024, it has accumulated approximately 2.6 billion views worldwide.

Shin Min-a will portray Navier, Ju Ji-hoon will take on the role of Sovieshu, Lee Jong-suk will play Heinley, and Lee Se-young will embody Rashta.

The series will be directed by Jo Soo-won, known for his work on 'I Hear Your Voice,' 'Pinocchio,' and 'Still 17.' The script will be penned by writers Yeojina and Hyun Choong-yeol, who previously worked on 'The Uncanny Counter.' Production will be handled by Studio N, known for projects like 'Trauma Center' and 'Jung Nyeon.'

'The Remarried Empress' will be produced as a romance fantasy series based on the original world of the webtoon. The broadcast schedule is yet to be determined.
