SBS Drama 'The Haunted Palace' Unveils Tension-Filled Chemistry Between Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-yeon

Ahead of the fourth episode airing on the 26th, SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) has released stills that heighten anticipation. The images show Kang Chul (played by Yook Sung-jae) injured and being cared for by Yeori (played by Kim Ji-yeon) in a secluded warehouse. Yeori, who once considered Kang Chul her arch-nemesis, now shows a surprising shift as she tends to him with a concerned expression.
What draws even more attention is Kang Chul's reaction to Yeori. He freezes at her touch as she wraps a bandage around his chest and can't take his eyes off her face as she leans in close. Kang Chul's expression reveals his shock and bewilderment as he experiences the unfamiliar sensation of a racing heart for the first time. This portrayal of Kang Chul being swept away by human emotions offers viewers a thrilling sense of excitement.
The unfolding dynamics raise questions about the true nature of Kang Chul's feelings for Yeori, whether the 'human-ignorant' Imugi Kang Chul will recognize his emotions, and how their relationship, which began with animosity, will evolve.
In the previous episode, the Imugi Kang Chul, possessing the body of Yoon Gap (also played by Yook Sung-jae), faced the terrifying Palcheokgui alongside Yeori. To save Yoon Gap's spirit, devoured by Palcheokgui, Yeori summoned the creature possessing the body of Wonja (played by Park Jae-joon). Her exorcism separated Palcheokgui from Wonja, leading to a chilling twist as it possessed King Lee Jung (played by Kim Ji-hoon). The episode ended with Kang Chul heroically shielding Yeori from the king and soldiers' swords, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating the next developments.
'The Haunted Palace' is a fantasy rom-com about Yeori, a shaman who rejects her fate as a medium, and Imugi Kang Chul, trapped in the body of Yeori's first love, Yoon Gap. Together, they confront the vengeful Palcheokgui, entangling their bodies and souls in a battle for possession.
