Actor Joo Won Reveals Family Ties to Famous Chinese Restaurant
Actor Joo Won recently revealed that he is the grandson of the founder of a renowned Chinese restaurant.
On the October 27th episode of the ENA variety show 'I Miss You, Choi Hwa-jung and Kim Ho-young,' Joo Won appeared to share his unique self-care tips.
During the show, Joo Won disclosed that before his debut, he weighed up to 90kg (198 lbs) and had to lose weight down to 65kg (143 lbs) for his first drama, 'Bread, Love and Dreams.'

Joo Won also shared that during his middle school years, he could eat up to 40 hamburgers in one sitting, showcasing his big appetite. Host Choi Hwa-jung commented, "This is a family trait," noting that Joo Won's grandfather was a pioneer in the restaurant industry.
The Chinese restaurant run by Joo Won's grandfather was a favorite spot for former presidents and influential figures in politics and business, making it a hot spot in Namsan. Choi Hwa-jung recalled thinking, "Joo Won must have grown up in a well-off family," upon hearing about his family background.

Joo Won reminisced, "I used to sit at the counter of the Chinese restaurant when I was young. I didn't know much about the place back then, but as I grew older and heard people talk about it, I realized it was quite a famous establishment." It is noted that the restaurant is no longer in operation.
